Dr. Mark Schlam was raised in Lexington Massachusetts, where he learned to love the outdoors in all seasons. His childhood was spent hiking, skiing, and exploring the mountains and coastline of New England. After high school, Dr. Schlam received his B.A. from Yale University. At Yale, he was a 4-year letterman on the varsity lacrosse team. During his undergraduate training, Dr. Schlam gained his EMT certification and valuable experience managing emergency situations.
Dr. Schlam obtained his dental degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine where he was awarded a Health Professions Scholarship from the United States Army. In dental school he served as an academic tutor to his peers, teaching assistant in Oral Surgery, and BLS instructor. At Tufts, Dr. Schlam was selected to participate on a mission trip, where he traveled to rural regions of the Dominican Republic and provided surgical services to the local communities.
After dental school, Dr. Schlam became an active duty Army officer, and completed the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency training program at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, NC. Dr. Schlam trained extensively in facial reconstruction and dental implant therapy, advanced bone grafting techniques, anesthesia, orthognathic surgery, cosmetic surgery, and trauma. He has special interest in complex full mouth dental rehabilitation and enjoys working closely with his restorative colleagues.
Dr. Schlam places patient safety and comfort as his top priorities and strives to provide a positive experience for all of his patients.
In his free time, Dr. Schlam enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children, and finding fun places to mountain bike, surf, race triathlons and snowboard.
